    God’s plan for a married couple to stay married as long as both spouses are alive. Each and every divorce is a result of sin, either on the part of one spouse or both spouses. The Bible gives only two reasons in which divorce is permitted: the first is in the case of abandonment of a Christian by an unbelieving spouse. A person who gets a divorce for a reason other than the reasons listed above, and then gets remarried – that person has committed adultery. It is distressing that the divorce rate among professing Christians is nearly as high as that of the unbelieving world
