Many have seen Mel Gibson’s "Passion of the Christ." Mike Bickle of the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, Missouri wrote a book entitled "Passion for Jesus." My first time in Boise was in order to attend a conference called "Passion for the Harvest." Most people are passionate about something. There is something in life that excites and motivates them. My own personal passion is to please our heavenly Father. The Bible says that without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). It also says that to every person among us, a measure of faith has been given (Romans 12:3). What we do with what we’ve been given is what will determine whether or not the Father is pleased. It is possible to please God, if we use our faith properly. Although faith without works is dead (James 2:20), the opposite is also true. Faith with works is alive. Every one of us will be tried, or tested. When we fall into various trials, we’re to count it all joy knowing that after the trial, we’re then made perfect and entire, in want of nothing. (See James 1:2-4). As I’ve often said, all of the answers are in the Bible. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17). There will be a falling away in the end times, as is spoken about in 2 Thessalonians 2:3. This falling away (or apostasy), one friend said, will be a falling away from the Scriptures. We see this taking place more and more as time progresses. In 2 Peter 1:10, we find that “if you do these things, you will never fall.” What things is Peter referring to that needs to be done in order to not fall? The things which are written in the preceding verses. James 1:22 tells us that if we merely hear the Word but don’t do it, we are self-deceived. When our ways are pleasing to the Father, He has promised to make all of our enemies to be at peace with us (Proverbs 16:7). What is your passion in life? Mine is to please the Father. That’s what motivates me. Jesus always pleased the Father (John 8:29). As we are yielded to the Spirit of Jesus, who lives within us, this too will be our passion.
