The Prophetic Reveals the Perfect Will of God

By: Sandra Lugo

Despite the many burdens and upsets of life with its distractions and turmoil, there is still God's perfect will and His permissive will. God's will speaks of God's intended purpose for our life and God's permissive will speaks of what He allows in our lives.

Much of what happens in our life is God's permissive will. Because God created us as free moral agents, we are free to make our own decisions and suffer the rewards and consequences of our choices. We may not like what we get but blaming God for the results of our bad decisions is unwarranted. While God desires the best for us, He leave us with the choice: Do I want God's best for me or do I want my best for me? And of course, best is defined by God and us differently.

In comes the prophetic, the prophetic comes to reveal the perfect will of God for our lives.

One of the major responsibilities of the prophet is to reveal the mind of God toward a particular situation.

2 Kings 3:11-12 - But Jehoshaphat said, "Is there no prophet of the LORD here, that we may inquire of the LORD by him?" And one of the servants of the king of Israel answered and said, "Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah." And Jehoshaphat said, "The word of the LORD is with him." So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.

The prophet that is seasoned in his walk with the Lord is used by God to give His people direction.

In order to be spirit led, we must know the mind of God.

Whenever the king of Israel had a major decision to make he consulted the prophet.

Rom 8:14-15 - For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

If we take the time to be honest, a lot of the mess we've had and may still have in our life today is because we didn't ask, "God what is your perfect will in this situation?"

That does not mean that you need a person to help you with every decision, but it does mean that there is a special anointing in the prophetic for God's people that enaables them and empowers them to accomplish God's perfect will for their life.

The prophetic is not a crystal ball that we look into when we are desperate for answers. The prophetic reveals the heart of God for a person. He knows our strengths and our weaknesses. He is the one who has gifted us and He is the one that knows what's best for us. It is for this reason that we need the prophetic to direct us in those areas of our life when we need counsel.

Fear of losing control is often the culprit in why we don't ask God for His perfect will as if God's will won't be as good, as pleasant or as beneficial as what we plan for our lives. My response that is: ludicrious. His will for us is not only perfect; it's good for us. It is filled with plans of peace, prosperity, wisdom, love and grace.

The next time you find yourself calling our friend for advice or struggling over the next step you should take, take a step in the right direction - call on God, ask him to reveal His perfect will for you.

And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth , Jehoshaphat stood and said , Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established ; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper .2 Chronicles 20:20 KJV
