Someone once said that “a fair exchange is no robbery.” What God offers is more than just “a fair exchange.” What He has to offer us is far greater than anything we have to offer Him. When we offer our bodies as living sacrifices to Jesus as the apostle actually begged that we would do (Romans 12:1), He hears us and receives that offer. When we surrender all of our own desires, goals, aspirations, and dreams to Him, asking Him to give us His desires instead, He does it. He has promised that when we delight ourselves in the Lord, He will give us our heart’s desires. (See Psalm 37:4.) When someone first prayed that God would give me my heart’s desires, I had to realize that this was not what I wanted; that is, my own natural heart’s desires. I therefore chose to give them to Jesus while lying prostrate on the floor before Him, and then asking that He puts His desires into me instead. This great interchange (or inner change) took place, and I began to see and understand things differently than before. I understand that not everyone has taken this step of surrender as I was led to do long ago, but that it is available for you to do now – I f you should so choose. There is victory and peace on the other side of pride. Humbling yourself in this manner will get you there. Ann Doupont Author www.anndoupont.org
