Many are suffering from spiritual malnutrition. They try to pray but wonder why no answers come to them. God has given us 66 books to read and understand. We call this a Bible. In it is our food for thought. Those who are diligent to read it, study, pray for understanding and apply it to their lives are among the blessed on the earth. Those who merely only allow others to get a word for them are malnourished, impoverished, and suffering because of a lack of knowledge. It is impossible to stay in faith regarding a matter without the substance of God’s Word built up on the inside of a person. It is likewise not possible to follow the Spirit of God without knowing and understanding the Word of God. Many people pray “on the run.” They haven’t spent time in His presence all week but expect Him to answer all their requests as they dictate them to Him while they’re on their way to somewhere else. They haven’t read their Bible that day. They haven’t thanked God for anything in a long time. Yet, they assume that God should hear them when they “pray.” It’s time that a change takes place in God’s people. It’s time for them to think about their actions and attitudes toward an holy God. It’s time for God’s people to come to understanding of what is expected, and even required, of them in order to have their heart’s desires fulfilled. His Word tells us in Psalm 37:4 that if we delight ourselves in the Lord, He would then give us our heart’s desires. It’s time that we learn what this means and that we do it.
