Martin Luther Kind said “If you preach the gospel but do not address the issues of your time you are not preaching the gospel at all”. With national epidemics in 2001 at the time of writing such as foot and mouth, floods, high levels of crime, many young people getting drunk younger, trying soft drugs which lead to hard drugs, having financial problems, having sex regularly and getting into trouble with the law – these are many negative aspects of the present time that seemingly are getting worse. There are positive points that are applicable but the norm is we have a problem so how can it be resolved rather than thinking more positively about life. People feel a need to try these things but I believe that Jesus should be a replacement for them and acceptable to say Jesus satisfies my desires and participates in productive aspects like sport to replace crime etc, only today on 16th April 2007 I watch on sky news ex-offenders have created a team called redemption united to do exactly this – we need to positively congratulate them for trying to turn their life around. It is only in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for and the bible says his divine power has given us everything we need. Don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow as God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up. What a reassurance friends! Ecclesiastes 3 v 1 – 8 is all about timings in life which applies to all situations like the past and the future. John 16 says “In this world you will have troubles but take heart but take heart I have overcome the world” so God knows about what goes on in your life and indeed the work. The bible also says “I tell you this is the time” to turn to God He will give you all you need from day to day if you live for him and make his kingdom your primary concern. The bible is only relevant to all who receive it and live for it, it is all or nothing with God. People use the Gospel lightly and need to have the correct image of God to reveal your true potential in Jesus Christ but the timing is his timing and not ours. If you preach the gospel today or witness to others get down to their level and make it real because its only when you do that souls are saved for the kingdom of God.
