No More Games When we were children, we thought like a child thinks. We reasoned like a child reasons and we understood like a child understands. As we grow up, however, we’re to see things differently than before. (See 1 Corinthians 13:11).) When we were children, most of us played games. Our parents had the responsibility of caring for our physical needs. We may have had some chores to do around the house, but not a lot of responsibility. We went to school and were responsible for our homework and our grades. Some of us went to church services on Sundays during our childhood and it then became a habit for us – to gather together with others for an hour or two each week. What God requires of us is far beyond our merely attending a church service once a week. He expects us to spend some time with Him each day, fellowshipping with Him. Many of us have said that Jesus is our best friend, but then ignored the inner promptings of the Holy Spirit when He wants to share some things with us. Many have not dealt with their inner issues but have instead kept themselves busy so they wouldn’t have to face what’s inside of them. They’re prayed for Jesus to be the Lord of their lives, but He isn’t their Lord. The greatest blessing I’ve ever received was when someone walked up to me to tell me that they got saved because of watching my life for years and seeing that Christianity worked. I believe that it’s more important to live it than it is to preach it. God doesn’t want His people to just gather together week after week, playing church, as some of you already know. It’s time for the people of God to grow up out of their childish thoughts, reasonings and understandings and to seek God for His instead. God will give us His thoughts about our situations if we really want them, and spend time with Him, allowing this inner change to take place. God wants to heal our lives, but we have to let Him. Let’s let Him. Ann Doupont June 2, 2008
