Many words from God about Christian behavior

By: Ron E. Matteson

Make peace with God, be reconciled, and all your happiness will be restored to you. Welcome the teaching from God’s lips and keep His words close to your heart, Job 22. 21- 22. God said, “I shall exterminate your enemies, however, you must not follow their ways or their gods. You are to worship me,” Exodus 23.20-26. During this long period, the king of Egypt died, and the sons of Israel, groaning in their slavery, cried out for help, and from the depths of their slavery, their cries came up to God. God heard their groaning and He called to mind His covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. God looked down upon the sons of Israel, Exodus 2. 23-25. Moses took the writing of God’s laws, and read it to all the people and they said, “We will observe all that God has decreed, and will obey it.” Moses then took the sacrificed blood and cast it toward the listeners. This, Moses said, is the blood of the covenant that God has made, containing all the rules, Exodus 24. 4- 8. God will test you, to see if you fear Him. The fear of God will keep you from sinning, Exodus 20.20. God said to Moses, “it is the one who has sinned against me that I shall blot out from my book, and on Judgment day that one shall be punished for all sins,” Exodus 32.33-34. I send you to Pharaoh to bring the sons of Israel, my people, out of Egypt. I shall be with you, and after you have led the people out of Egypt, you are to offer worship to God on this mountain, Exodus 3.10-12. Moses said, “Our Lord God will rise up a prophet (Christ) like me from among your own brothers. You must listen to what ever He tells you. The man who does not listen to that prophet is to account for it,” Deuteronomy 18.15, 19.
God said, “I set before you today a blessing and a curse. A blessing if you obey the Commandments of your God that I enjoin on you today. A curse if you disobey the Commandments of your God by leaving the way I have marked out for you today, or by going after other God's you have not known.” You shall enter and possess the land God is giving you to live in, but you must keep and observer all the laws and customs I set before you today, Deuteronomy 11. 26- 28, 32. God said, “all I command you, you must observe, (adding nothing to it, taking nothing away from it,”) Deuteronomy 12.32. Fear God by following all His ways and serve Him with all your heart and soul, keep His commandments, and laws that have been laid down before you. Circumcise your heart, and no longer be obstinate. Cling to God, and in His name take your oaths. Praise Him for He has done great things for you, Deuteronomy 10.16, 20- 22. Do what is good and right in the eyes of God, Deuteronomy 12.1- 5. Strict justice must be your ideal that you may live in rightful possession of the land that God is giving you, Deuteronomy 16.20.
Love God and always keep His injunctions, His laws, His customs, and His commandments, Deuteronomy 11.1. If you faithfully keep and observe all these commandments that I enjoin on you today, love God, follow His ways and cling to Him, God will bless you, Deuteronomy 11.22-23. God will bless you in the land He gives you for your inheritance only if you pay careful attention to His voice, keeping and observing all the Commandments that I enjoin on you today, Deuteronomy 15.4- 6. If a Prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and offers to do a sign or a wonder for you and the sign or wonder comes about, and then he says to you, “come, let us follow other God's whom you have not known, and serve them,” you are not to listen to the words of the Prophet or to the dreams of the dreamer. God is testing you to know if you love your God with all your heart and soul. Follow God, fear God and keep God's commandments, by obeying God's voice, serving and clinging to God. The prophet or dreamer of dreams must be put to death, for preaching disloyalty to God who brought you out of Egypt and redeemed you from the House of slavery. The prophet would have made you turn aside from the way God has marked out for you. You must banish this evil from, you, Deuteronomy 13.1- 5. When you come into the land God gives you, you must not fall into the habit of imitating the detestable practices of the natives. There must never be anyone among you who makes his son or daughter pass through fire, who practices divination, including a soothsayer, augur sorcerer, or one who uses charms, consults ghosts and spirits, or calls up the dead. The person who does these things is detestable to God, and it is because of these detestable practices that God is driving these nations out before you, Deuteronomy 18.9- 13. A leader, (priest) should keep a copy of God's law, and it must never leave him. He must learn God's law and learn to fear God by keeping all God's words and observing these words. His heart must not degrade his brothers, and he should swerve neither right nor left from the law. By doing so, he will have long days as a leader, (priest,) Deuteronomy 17.18- 20.
Our brothers have made us lose heart by saying, “our enemy is bigger and stronger than we are, their cities are immense with walls reaching to the sky, and we saw giant men. You were told, not take fright, nor be afraid of them, for your God will go in front of you and will be fighting on your side just as you saw him fight for you in Egypt. In the wilderness you also saw how God carried you, as a man carries child, all along the paths you traveled on your way to this land. After all of this, you put no faith in God who has gone in front of you on your journey to find you a camp ground, for at night a fire lighted your path, and in daylight a cloud lead you, Deuteronomy 1.28-33. All the Commandments I enjoin on you today, you must keep and observe that you may live and increase in number and enter into the land that God promised on oath to your fathers, (now consider that land as being the Kingdom of God) to make it your own. Keep the Commandments of God, follow his ways, and reverence him, Deuteronomy 8.1. God said, they will eat and take their fill and grow fat, then turn to other God's and serve them, despise me and break my covenant. Yes even before I brought them to the land I promised on oath, I knew what plans they had in mind, Deuteronomy 31. 20- 21.
God has made this declaration to day, that you will be His very own people as He promised, but only if you keep all His commandments. Then He will set you high above all the nations He has made, and you will be a people consecrated to Him, as He promises, Deuteronomy 26.16- 19. God will make you a people consecrated to Him, as He has sworn to, if you keep the commandments of God and follow His ways. Deuteronomy 28: 9. Righteousness means that we keep and observe the laws of God, as He has directed us to do, Deuteronomy 6. 25. Serve one another in works of love, and love your neighbor as yourself, Leviticus 19.18. Do not behave as those of unspiritual nature since you must follow God’s customs and keep God’s laws, Leviticus 18.5. Be holy in all you do, since it is the Holy One who has called you, and scripture says, be holy, for I am holy, Leviticus 19.2. Do not have recourse to the spirits of the dead, or magicians, for they will defile you, therefore, keep what God's laws commands, and put them into practice, Leviticus 19.31,37.
God said, you must follow My customs, keep My laws, and live your life by them, Leviticus 18. 30. God, the righteous judge, is slow to show His anger, but He is a God who is always enraged by those who refuse to repent, Psalm 7. 11- 12. God has rewarded me according to the cleanness of my hands. God compensates me according to my just actions. God repays me, according to my pureness, for I have kept the ways of God, and have not fallen away from my God. God’s judgments are all before me, I have kept His statutes. I am blameless and in God’s presence I keep sin at arms length. In God’s sight, God repays me according to my just actions, and according to my purity, Psalm 18. 20- 24. God's commandments are joy for the spirit, Psalm 19.8, God, defend me, for I go my way in innocence and my trust in God never waivers, so test me God, probe my loins and heart and put me to the trial, Your love is before my eyes, and I live my life in loyalty to you. No sitting with those who are deceitful, and no associating with hypocrites. I hate the society of evil persons, and I refuse to sit down with the wicked. I wash my hands in innocence and join the procession around your altar, to sing hymns of thanksgiving, and proclaim all your wonders. I love the house where you live, the place where your glory makes its home. Do not let my spirit share the fate of sinners, or the doom of men of blood, those men with guilt on their hands, and their hands are heavy with bribes. I live my life in innocence, please redeem me God, and have pity on me, for my foot is set on the right path, and I will bless you, God, at the assemblies. Psalm 26.
Have mercy on me God, and in your goodness, in your great tenderness, wipe away my faults and wash me clean of my guilt, purifying me from my sin. I am well aware of my faults, for I have my sin constantly in mind, for I have sinned against none other than You, having done what You regarded as wrong. You are just when you pass sentence on me, and blameless when You judge. You know I was born guilty, a sinner from the moment of conception, but You love sincerity of heart, so teach me the secrets of wisdom, and purify me with hyssop until I am clean. Wash me until I am whiter than flakes of snow, and instill joy, and gladness, into me. Cause the bones that You have crushed to rejoice again. Hide your face from my sins and wipe away all my guilt. God, create a clean heart in me, and put into me a new and constant Spirit, neither banish me from your presence, nor deprive me of your Spirit. Be my savior again and renew my joy, keep my spirit steady and willing. I shall teach transgressors the way, and the sinners will return to God. Save me from death, God my savior, and my tongue will acclaim your righteousness, Lord, open my lips and my mouth will speak your praise. Sacrifices are not pleasing to you, and should I offer a holocaust, You will not accept it. Therefore, my sacrifice is my broken spirit, for You will not scorn my crushed, and broken heart, Psalm 51, 1-17. To sum up the whole matter, fear God, and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. God calls all hidden deeds, both good, and bad, to judgment, Ecclesiastes 12. 13- 14. The eyes of those who see will no longer be closed, and the ears of those who hear will be alert. The heart of the hasty will learn to judge, the tongue of stammers will speak clearly, Isaiah 32.3-4.
God, how come you lead us astray from your ways, and harden our hearts against the fearing of You, Isaiah 63.10, 17. Listen to me, said God, “you who know what integrity means, it means people who take my laws to heart,” Isaiah 51. 7. God said, “I teach you what is good for you and I lead you on the way you must go. If only you had been alert to My commandments, your happiness would have been like a river, your integrity like the waves of the sea, and your children would have been numbered like the sand sand, your descendents as many as grains of sand. Your name would not have been blotted out before Me,” Isaiah 48.17-19. God said, “These seek me day after day, and their desire to know My ways like one wanting to act with integrity, and not ignore the laws of their God, Isaiah 58. 2. Sins are a witness against us, and indeed our faults are present to our minds, for we know our iniquities, which include, rebellion and denial of God, turning our back on God, talking treachery and revolt, murmuring lies in our head. Justice is withheld and integrity stands in the distance. In the public square, sincerity is brought to its knees and uprightness is forbidden to enter, Isaiah 59.1-20. Now I, God, will expose this integrity of yours, and your futile actions. When you cry, let your hateful idols save you, Isaiah 57.12, 13. Through the wilderness will run an undefiled highway reserved for God’s chosen. The unclean may not travel by it, nor fool's stray along it. Lions or any fierce beasts will not roam about it, but the redeemed will walk there, since those God has Ransomed shall return upon it. They will come to Zion shouting for joy, everlasting joy on their faces. Joy and gladness will go with them and sorrow and lament will be ended, Isaiah 35.8-10.
Jerusalem is falling into ruins, and Judah is in collapse, since their words and their deeds openly insult the Lord’s glory. Their disrespectful airs bear witness against them, and they parade their sin like Sodom. To their own undoing, they do not hide it. They are preparing their own downfall. Happy is the virtuous man, for he will feed on the fruit of his deeds, woe to the wicked, evil is on him, he will be treated as his actions deserve, yes My people, your rulers mislead you and destroy the road you walk on. God the Judge arises, He stands up to arraign His people. God calls to judgment the elders and princes of his people. You are the ones who destroy the vineyard and conceal what you have stolen from the poor, Isaiah 3.8- 11. There is a great depth to the riches of wisdom and knowledge about God, and His insight is non searchable, for it is impossible to understand His ways. Who has known the mind of the Lord or who could ever consult Him? God has everything that we could possibly think of lending to Him, Isaiah 40.13, 14, 25-26. God is exalted, for He is enthroned above, and fills Zion with Justice and integrity.
Your approval is assured, wisdom and knowledge are riches that save, and the fear of God is ones treasure, Isaiah 33. 5- 6. A Curse on the man who will not listen to God's laws, Jeremiah 11. 3-5, for God speaks to those who could be His people, His honor, and His boast, but they have not listened. God will spoil the arrogance of Judah and Jerusalem, the evil ones who refuse to listen to His words, but follow the dictates of their own hard hearts. They have followed alien gods, and served and worshiped them, so let them become good for nothing, Jeremiah 13. 8-11. God said, “these were my orders, listen to my voice, then I will be your God and you shall be my people. just Follow right to the end the way that I marked out for you and you will prosper.” They did not listen, they did not pay attention, they followed the dictates of their own evil hearts, they refused Me, and turned their backs on Me. From the day your ancestors came out of Egypt, until today, I have persistently sent you My servants, the prophets. You have not listened to Me, you have not paid attention. You have grown stubborn and behaved even worse than your ancestors. One may say all these words to them, but they will not listen. One may call them, they will not answer. Tell them this, “neither will they listen to the voice of God, nor accept any correction. Sincerity is not found, it has vanished from their mouths,” Jeremiah 7.23-28.
Each deserves the other, they do not speak the truth, they have accustomed their tongue to lying, they are corrupt, incapable of repentance, and they refuse to acknowledge God, Jeremiah 9.5 -6. God said, “I have persistently spoke to you, but you have not listened. God has persistently sent you his servants, the prophets, but you have not listened, or paid attention. The message was this, each of you must turn away from your evil behavior, and actions, and you will remain on the soil God gave your ancestors to have forever. Do not follow alien God's by serving and worshiping them. You did not listen. Now you are in slavery for seventy years, Jeremiah 25. 7- 11. Horrible things are happening, for the prophets give false prophecy, and the priests teach whatever they please, but the worldly people love it, Jeremiah 5.30, 31. God said, “I will judge you as your conduct deserves and call you to account for your filthy practices. I will not look on you with pity or spare you, since I will call you to account for your conduct and for the filthy practices which you parade, and so you will learn that I am God and that I strike, Ezekiel 7.3- 9. Disaster will follow disaster, the prophet will be pestered for prophesy, the priest will be at a loss over the law, and the elders at a loss on how to advise. I will treat them as their conduct deserves, and Judge them by their own standards. Then they will learn that I am God, Ezekiel 7.1, 26-27.
God said, “The man who has sinned is the one who must die. The son must not suffer for the sins of his father, nor a father for the sins of his son. Credit the upright man for his integrity, and credit the wicked man for his wickedness. Should the wicked man renounces all the sins he has committed, and follow My laws, then become law abiding and honest, he will certainly live and not die. All the sins he committed (past sins) will be forgotten from then on, and he shall live because of the integrity he has practiced. I am not likely to take pleasure in the death of a wicked man, it is God who speaks, I prefer to see him renounce his wickedness and live. Should the upright man renounce is his integrity and commits sins, copying the wicked man and practicing every kind of filth, should he live? All the integrity he has practiced shall be forgotten from them on, (past integrity) but this is because he himself has BROKEN FAITH and committed sin and for this he shall die,” Ezekiel 18. 20- 24. Repent, renounce all your sins, avoid all occasions of sin and shake off all the sins you have committed against me. Make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. House of Israel, are you so anxious to die. God said, “I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, repent, and live, Ezekiel 18. 30- 32. I shall show no pity, no compassion. I intend to judge you as your actions deserve since you made no attempt to repent of your sins, Ezekiel 24.13,14.
They cannot tell the truth, and their hearts are set on dishonest gain, Ezekiel 33.31. God said, “If I say to a wicked man, “you are to die, and you do not speak to warn the wicked man to renounce his ways, then he shall die for his sin but I will hold you responsible,” Ezekiel 33.8- 9. If I say to an upright person, you are to live and then trusting in integrity one turns to evil, all integrity will no longer be remembered and due to evil, that person shall die. If I say to a wicked person, you are to die, and that person renounces sin and does what is lawful and right, and returns pledges and restores what he has stolen, and keeps the laws that gives life, and stops committing sin, that person shall live and will not die. All previous sins will no longer be remembered. Having done what is lawful and right that person shall live. When an upright person renounce his integrity, and commits sin, death is certain. When a wicked person renounces wickedness and does what is lawful and right, that person shall live. I will judge each of you by what you do,” Ezekiel 33.13- 20.
God has a case against Judah and God will pay Jacob as Jacob’s conduct merits, and as Jacob’s deeds deserve. Turn again, then to your God and hold fast to love, and justice, and always put your trust in God. Canaan holds fraudulent scales. Gilead is full of iniquity, including falsehood, and Gilead has sacrificed bulls. Ephraim has bitter provocation and God means to bring bloodshed down on Ephraim who will pay for their insults, Hosea 12.2, 6-7, 11, 14. God says, “on that day I will stand up to make my accusation, for I am determined to gather the nations, to assemble the kingdom's, and to pour out my wrath on them, the whole heat of my anger,” Zephaniah 3. 8.
God made a book of remembrance recording those who fear him and take refuge in his name, Malachi 3.16. God said, “I mean to visit you for the judgment, and I am going to be a ready witness against the adulterer,” (sinful sex,) Malachi 3.5. I, God, do not change, and you are not ruined yet. Since the days of your ancestors, you have evaded my statutes and not observed them. Return to me and I will return to you,” Malachi 3.5- 7.
Do not be afraid of those who can kill the body, but cannot kill a soul. Fear Him rather who can destroy both body and soul in hell, Matthew 10.28. Jesus sent the twelve apostles out to proclaim the kingdom of God, and to heal, Matthew 10. 5, 7- 8. Christ said, “he who chooses his worldly type of life will lose eternal life, and he who denies his worldly type of life for My sake will gain eternal life,” Matthew 10. 39. Find out what kind of treasures one owns, and you will locate one's heart and desires. Blessed are the ones who the master finds on the alert when he returns, Luke 12.34, 43. Jesus said to his disciples, “be aware of the leaven of the Pharisees which is their falseness about religion. Nothing is covered up that shall not be uncovered. There's nothing hidden that shall not be made known. Everything said the dark shall be heard in broad daylight. Everything whispered in private shall be shouted from the house tops,” Luke 12.1- 3.
Jesus said,” heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” Do not let your heart be weighted down with unnecessary things, with drunkenness, or with worldly desires, for Judgment Day will come upon you when you are not prepared, Luke 21.33-34, 36. Pray for strength to survive end times, and to stand before the Son of Man, Luke 21.36. Do not judge according to outward appearance, let your judgment be according to what is right, John 7. 24. Jesus said, “If they believe in Me, from their heart shall flow rivers of living water.” Jesus was referring to the Spirit of God which those who believed in Him would receive, John 7.37- 39. Jesus said, “My teaching I give you is not of My own, but it comes from He who sent Me. Whoever is doing the will of God shall know whether the teaching is from God or an opinion of the teacher. One who speaks his own opinion seeks his own glory, but he who seeks to glorify the one who sent him is truthful and there is righteousness in him, John 7.16- 18. Jesus said, “If anyone does not keep within the teaching of Christ, but goes beyond it, (neither adding to, nor taking away from,) he cannot have God with him. Only those who keep to what God taught can have the Father and the Son within them, 2 John 9.
Christ said, “You know Me and you know where I come from. Yet I have not come of My own self. There is one who sent Me and I really come from Him, and you do not know Him, but I know Him because I have come from Him, and it was He who sent Me, John 7.28- 29. God does not listen to sinners but God does hear those whofear God, and do God’s will, John 9. 31. The apostles asked Jesus, “teacher, did this man, or his parents, sin, for he was born blind.” Jesus replied, “The parents and this man have not sinned, the man was born blind that the works of God could be proclaimed through him. We must do the works of the Father while we can, for that time will come when we can no longer do these works. While I am in this world, I am the light of the world,” John 9. 1- 4. Jesus said, “he who wishes to serve to Me must follow Me and where ever I am, My servant will be. My father will honor My servant's.” John 12.26. The light will be with you only a little longer now. Walk while you have the light or the dark will over take you. He who walks in the dark does not know where he is going. While you yet have the light, believe in the light and you will become sons of light.” Having said this, Jesus left them and hid Himself, John 12. 35- 36.
Many believed in Jesus, but they would not acknowledge Him for fear of being expelled from the temple. They loved the approval of man rather than the approval of God, John 12.42- 43. Jesus said, “if anyone receives My words but does not keep them, I will not judge that person, (God the Father, through Christ, will be their Judge,) but for the person who rejects My words and rejects Me, the very words I have spoken will be his judge on the last day,” John 12.47- 48. Repent, because God has a fixed day when the whole world will be judged, and judged in righteousness, and He has approved a man to be judge, and God has publicly proven this by raising this man from the dead, Acts 17. 30- 31.
