The philosophy of the New Age has heavily permeated America's health care system and has infiltrated Christian beliefs regarding divine healing of the physical body. It's claimed that some people have received physical healing that can be verified by medical doctors, by practicing powerful visualization. The patient is instructed to let his imagination be the author of mental scenarios depicting his disease or cancer being attacked by what his mind's eye views as the imaginary assailant and victor of his condition. Could perhaps this be an effective but innocent use of positive thoughts and imagery? Cannot Christians and non-Christians employ such power of his God-provided brain to cooperate with a "universal mind" in which healing may be found? The response for the Christian, based on biblical passages, is a stern no. God's Word has already taught the believer looking for healing, what to set his mind on--His living Word. Proverbs 4.20-22 urges the believer, saying, "attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my saying. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart (mind's eye). For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh." The genuine follower of Christ must not disregard other sensible actions arising from a positive outlook. These include heeding the instructions of his doctor, correcting his diet, and using herbal medicines, all of which bring no condemnation according to the Bible. Therefore, he can do many of the very same things that non-Christians do in the employment of their positive mind, but, only to certain points such as the one mentioned above. Every thought and action that rises up to oppose Christ, must rapidly be brought down to prevent against giving an advantage to Satan to move in one's life through sin against God. Christ is the only true healer of every sickness and all disease, both physical and mental. He is never seen in scripture instructing anyone that He healed, to practice the kind of visualization promoted by the New Age. The biblical scripture of 2 Corinthians 10.5-6 admonishes Christians to practice, "casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." Again, its said in Exodus 15.26 that, "...if thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians; for I am the Lord that healeth thee. Americans also need to be informed of the divergent methods for the diagnosis of ailments and disease. These methods include studying the invisible meridians of the body, the balance of yin and yang energies, and so many more that could be enumerated, but that are beyond this article's focus. Inevitably they always lead a person into the pagan practices and doctrines from which they originated.
