In the recent elections in America, preceding it were a lot of commercials. Each was trying to get you to vote for their candidate. After saying why you should vote for them, you would then hear the person state their name saying that they approve this message. Often they would speak against their opponent in that message telling you why not to vote for the other person. When we want God’s approval on our lives, there is a way to attain it. In 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV), we see that we are to study (God’s Word) to show ourselves approved unto God. There are those who receive the praises of man, but are not necessarily approved of God. Those who do what they do so that men will applaud them have received their reward. There are those others who pray in secret, fast in secret, and give in secret (Matthew 6:4, 6, 18). When these things are done this way, these people will be rewarded by God. Knowing that God’s approval is on your life, and on the message that you’re proclaiming, is reward enough. When you have studied God’s Word for yourself rather than entrusting that task to others, you will have no shame or regret, for you have then rightly divided the Word of truth and you are freed from the deceptions of the enemy. Just as it was before the elections when the many candidates were saying “Vote for me” and you had to then decide what you were going to do about what you were hearing, so it is in our lives daily. We can “vote” for the voice of the Lord daily, putting Him first, or we could choose to put other “voices” first. God’s Word says, “I have put before you life and death, blessings and curse. Choose life.” (See Deuteronomy 30:19.) That life is in Christ. It is in knowing Him intimately through prayer and the Word. He wants to remove the fallacies we’ve believed and replace them with His truth. God wants to transform (Romans 12:2) our way of thinking from darkness to light, step by step and day by day. Yet, we must choose to follow that life. We need to “vote” for life-producing words even when there are many voices out there crying out to “vote” for their “candidate” instead. Even when it’s unpopular to fully live for Jesus, there is nothing greater than having His approval on your life. I am Ann Doupont and I approve this message (smile). www.anndoupont.org
