God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). It is not God’s will that His children live in bondage to any fear. He wants them free. There are many kinds of fears which need to be overcome. Some common fears are the fear of failure, the fear of the unknown, the fear of death, and the fear of man. What Job feared worst came upon him. (See Job 3:25.) That should be a powerful motivator for us, so that we will begin working on getting fear out of our lives, not wanting what we fear most to come upon us; and it is possible to get rid of all of our fears. In Psalm 34:4, we find that David sought the Lord. He heard him and delivered him out of all of his fears. Knowing that God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34), we can understand that what He did for David, He will also do for us – if we will do what David did. What did he do? He sought the Lord, and the Lord heard him. Since the Lord heard him, it stands to reason that David talked to God about his fears. As we do likewise; that is, talk to Jesus about our fears, and also seek Him for deliverance from them, He will fully free us from then. When we’re fully freed from all of our fears, how many do we then have? None. Right? We might not even know what our fears are. That’s a good place to start. Tell the Father that you don’t know what your fears are (if you have any). Ask Him to reveal them to you. Ask Him also to fill you with His perfect love, and all of your fears will then have no choice but to leave (1 John 4:18). Fear is known to destroy faith, and faith is needed in our lives every day. If you have any fears in your life, why not start today in getting freed from all of them? You can do it. King David did and so did I. So can you.
