Experience God's Patience with your Weight Loss

By: Healthy By Design

But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life (1 Timothy 1:16).

Have you ever had to deal with an impatient person? They were always rushing you, chastising you for doing something wrong and holding a grudge against you for a mistake that you made. Being around someone like that would have you on pins and needles all the time.

The fact is, you are around someone like that all the time—just look in a mirror. You are constantly producing that same angst and anxiety in your own body every time you beat up on yourself for falling short of the mark.

Don’t get me wrong. God wants you to do your part. He does not condone laziness but understands your weaknesses and promises to strengthen your weaknesses when you trust Him.

Our heavenly Father is patient with us. Rest in Him and allow Him to guide your weight loss. He wants to use your testimony so that you can draw others to Him. Remember the Apostle Paul’s past. Before his conversion, he hunted down and murdered Christians! (Acts 9:1-9.) God was patient with Paul, and forgave him and used his past to draw others into the kingdom. That’s how He wants to use you in this process if you allow Him.

God wants you to understand the principles in weight loss. It’s the same principle that He applies to all areas of our lives to strengthen us and allow us to manifest His image. The best analogy is that of a gardener – God – and his garden of fruit – that’s us).

1. Producing fruit takes time – fruit is produced in due season. Your weight loss will happen in time once you become more conscious about getting the food (the word).

2. Producing good fruit requires pruning, cutting back branches that do not produce fruit. See failures as necessary pruning.

3. The fruit must stay on the vine to produce fruit – God does not want to do it alone. Apart from Him we can do nothing (John 15:2).

Allow Him to use you as an example of His patience and to use your testimony to draw others to Him.
