We know that God did not create by accident and history is not merely sequential incidents or events that are occurring with the passage of time. God has a pre-determined purpose for everything. All of creation exists to glorify God. We are created to worship God. The crucial question for you and me is what side are we on? The Almighty, in His absolute wisdom, created, designed and permitted all things to reveal Himself as completely as is comprehensible to His creation - Romans 1:20. This means a revelation of His person, power, providence, goodness, grace, mercy, love, holiness, etc. In short, He reveals His character and attributes to His creation. This is so that the worship that must be ascribed to Him is as complete as is possible for creation to ascribe. (Philippians 2:10&11; Revelations 5:13) Every knee must bow in heaven, on earth and under the earth. Every created being must, at the appointed time, worship (ascribe unto God His worth). God must be worshiped, is being worshiped and will be worshiped. This is His sovereign design: - Isaiah 45:23 “I have sworn by Myself, the word has gone forth from My mouth in righteousness and will not turn back, that to Me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance” (NASB). God must also be worshipped as an inevitable reality that goes with His existence: - (Romans 14:11) “…As I live, says the LORD, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall give praise to God” (NASB). Completely independent of the will of all who must worship Him, God must be worshipped: - Philippians 2:9 –11 “... every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord” (NASB). WILLING WORSHIP IN HEAVEN The Bible instructs us to “Train up a child in the way that he should go and when he is old he shall not depart from it” - Proverbs 22:6 (NASB). This truth is perfected in God. On earth, we are the beneficiaries of His perfect training to perfection in Christ Jesus. It is a good work that He determined, according to His infinite wisdom, to begin in us and He will be faithful to complete it - (Philippians 1:6) We might say we are in a soul school. Our teacher is God Himself: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Our text is the Bible. We have drills in the form of experiences and struggles. Evil has been allowed to take its course that we may be both challenged and made aware of God’s infinite mercy, grace and power. Through many examples in the lives of individuals, God shows His power, sovereignty and infinite wisdom. All that we have been commanded to do are opportunities for practice. These have all been given to us that we may develop the understanding and nature that we must have in order to dwell with the Most High in heaven and willingly worship Him. We shall worship Him eternally with reverent fear with adoration and in love. INESCAPABLE WORSHIP IN HELL The unregenerate are not exempt from worshipping God. They shall also worship God (ascribe to God His worth) eternally but in hell. They shall worship in utter and frightful fear of God. Their never-ending torment shall be an everlasting testimony to the dreadful reality of being separated from God. This too, though seemingly harsh to the ones who are cast into hell, testifies to the glory of God and the gloriousness of dwelling with Christ eternally.
