Matthew 25:13 "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.” 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love.” Heb 2:1 “We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.” Just as Jesus was promised in the beginning and He came as that tiny baby in a lowly manger so Jesus will come again. He promised. John 14:1-3 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father ' s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” I know it has been a long time since He promised... nearly 2000 years. But when God promised Jesus in the beginning (Gen 3:15) it was nearly 4000 years before it became reality. But reality it was. God’s time table is not like our own. Men scoff at the idea but fail to realize that they only fulfill scripture every time they do it. 2 Peter 3:3-10 “First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, "Where is this ' coming ' he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation." But they deliberately forget that long ago by God ' s word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water. By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.” Matthew 24:42 "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.” When I think of watching for the arrival of someone I think of going to the window and looking out toward the direction of their arrival. I do it many times. They have promised and I expect them to arrive. And oh what joy when they do finally arrive. As I write this I’m looking for my husband to return from shopping. In the near future I will be watching for my daughter and grand-daughter to arrive. They have promised to return and I expect them to keep their promise. I’m looking forward to their arrival and they assure me that they expect our meeting once again to be a joyous occasion. Are you watching for the Lord’s return as you go about your daily life or are you often forgetful of His return. The signs of the times point to a soon return. I’m expecting. Are you?
