There are many things that could be said. There are many things that I could write. Unless the Lord gives me the words, I have nothing to say. Unless the Lord builds the house, the laborers build in vain that build it (Psalm 127:1). I have learned to wait before proceeding. It’s like coming to a red light or a stop sign. Waiting is like that for me. When I wait like that, He strengthens me (Isaiah 40:31). I wait for the purpose of receiving that strength before going again. Then, I can do all things through Christ (Philippians 4:13) that He leads me to do – after I’ve waited for the “green light.” In the natural, I don’t wait well. There’s so much to accomplish – things to do and places to go. However, I’d rather wait and have His strength than to go in my own. God wants to make us fit for the Master’s use (2 Timothy 2:21). Think of taking a dirty pan to cook in. Most of us would first wash the pan before using it. We would want to use a cleansed vessel rather than a dirty one. We need to be cleansed from all unrighteousness, and we can be. If we confess our sins to God, He is faithful and just to not only forgive us for them – but to also cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). As we admit to God what we’ve done, He will then help us turn from it so that we need not continue to repeat the offense. His power is available to all who are willing. Just as a dirty pan still has residue from being used and should not be used again until it’s first cleansed, so are we. We need a “time out” for washing (Ephesians 5:26) before giving out to others. Otherwise, that residue of uncleanness will also be give to them along with the clean. Since that is not our intention, it is necessary to “come clean” with the Father, to confess to Him what we did wrong and to ask His forgiveness for it. Then we are cleansed vessels, made fit for the Master’s use. Ann Doupont www.anndoupont.org
