Which Race Are You Running In?

Author : Mark Crossley   Top Author

Christian Articles Resource Cross 1 Corinthians 9 : 24 – 27 ”Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize?. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last : but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly ; I do not fight like a man beating the air, no I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others I myself will not be disqualified by the prize”.

Do you know who won the 1984 F.A. Cup?, The 1998 World Cup or Who won the most gold medals in the 1996 Olympics?.

Aside from the most devoted sports enthusiasts, most people don’t know and quite frankly don’t care.

Immediately after these crowns were won, thousands of people lauded these grand accomplishments. After the newness began to disintegrate, fresh seasons were played, young players appeared, and other teams took new championships.

In essence the crowns were all perished and also for a limited amount of time whether it be 1 year or 4 years.

What we too often find is the normal life is busy with work + commitments, we are constantly running against life trying to keep up with life’s stresses but I believe people are thinking that you need the necessities and the odd luxury to survive but there is more to life than sport and everything else.

Just as an athlete undergoes a strict diet and exercise regime, a Christian must train their spiritual body – more often than an athlete to fight off the devil who tries to deterring Christians from the prizes God has for us. The athlete does this to compete and win a physical crown, while the follower of Christ develops his or her soul for the spiritual crown of life after death.

Our prize possession is to have a crown forever –through Christ the leagues and ambitions are endless – only by faith + determination in the spiritual realm of Christianity in God can determine this, we may not score every time or win gold medals : probably because we are having a bad game, but out of that practice can make us better.

Have you ever tried running a race with God, start from the center line, if you go Gods way you’ll score but if you go your way you are likely to score an own goal!. I pray and hope that through this article you will score the right goal and gain a gold medal and choose to avoid second best with silver.
