Turning Over A New Leaf

Christian Articles Resource Cross 1 Corinthians 2 v 1-2 “When I come to you brothers I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the teestimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified”.

For most people from after Christmas to the beginning of each new year we think about making new resolutions for the next year. This normally means setting targets for ourselves or making changes in our lives to improve it or simply turns away from the old and starting a fresh.

It is quite easy to make them but we need to ask ourselves two questions: How long will we keep them for?, and Are they worth making in the first place?.

Once we have made our decision we need the strength and encouragement of God to make this a reality in our lives but we need to ask ourselves for the right reasons and what consequences will this have and foremost is this what God would want of us.

There is a song called “I am resolved”, here are a few verses from this “I am resolved to go to the Savior leaving my sin and strife, he is the true one, he is the just one and he hath the words of life”.

The second verse says “ I am resolved to enter in the kingdom leaving the paths of sin, friends may despite me, foes may set me free still I enter in” Try reading these words a few times and see if they speak to you!.

As you think about making a resolution stop and think will this be the best interests that God wants of me and if this is then this will be made a reality, after all this is what God is about.

As you read this column on the first month of a new year why not invite God into your life and make this the best new years resolution you have ever made.
